We’ve Reached Our First Two Milestones
—Now at $36,000 and Climbing!
Since 2015, the Mineral Daily Bread Food Bank has been a vital lifeline for families in our community, offering essential food assistance to those facing tough times. Located at 116 W Front Street in Mineral, WA, the food bank serves not only Mineral but also Lewis and Pierce Counties, as well as surrounding areas—working tirelessly to ensure that no one goes hungry.
What Makes Them Different?
The Mineral Daily Bread Food Bank isn’t just about handing out food—it’s about dignity, compassion, and choice. In partnership with Food Lifeline and Northwest Harvest, the food bank offers a unique model called “Dignity Shopping.” Instead of receiving pre-packaged bags, families can select the items they need based on their preferences and household size. This simple yet powerful approach allows individuals to feel empowered, respected, and supported—especially during life’s most challenging times. Each household is welcome to shop twice a month, helping them get by with stability and nourishment.
A Lifeline for Growing Need
The need has never been greater. Currently serving nearly 10,000 individuals per year and over 650 families each month, the food bank has seen demand skyrocket. In 2024 alone, the number of families needing assistance more than doubled. This surge forced the team to reduce the amount of food given to each family—something no one ever wants to do.
The Urgent Need for Expansion
In 2020, the food bank expanded to meet the community’s needs, but that space is already maxed out. To meet the growing demand, they need to expand by 200%. The plan includes removing the current storage trailer and building an enclosed, climate-controlled structure with an additional 1,000 square feet of usable space. This would allow for walk-in refrigerators and freezers, expanded dry storage, and more efficient service to the community.
We’ve Hit Two Big Milestones—But the Work Continues

Thanks to the incredible support from donors, community members, and local organizations, **we’ve already raised $36,000 and reached both our first and second fundraising goals—**before their deadlines!
This incredible momentum came from gifts of all sizes—heartfelt donations of $10, $20, and $50, as well as generous contributions of $100, $500, $1,000, $4,000, and even $10,000. Every single dollar has helped bring us one step closer to making the expansion a reality.
Because of your generosity, we successfully met the April 1st fundraising goal and submitted our application for the LCIF Hunger Grant. The grant committee will meet in mid-May to make their decision.
But we’re not stopping here.
As anyone who’s ever applied for a grant knows, nothing is guaranteed. What is guaranteed is the tremendous and growing need in our community. That’s why we’re continuing our fundraising efforts—because the food bank’s expansion is essential, and we’re committed to making it happen, no matter what.
